Snoop Dogg’s family are grieving following the death of his 10-month-old granddaughter, Codi Dreaux.
The news was shared by the rapper’s daughter, Cori Broadus, who told followers on Instagram that she had lost her baby.
The 26-year-old posted a black-and-white photo of herself with her daughter, adding the caption: “Monday, I lost the love of my life. My Codi.”
Cori’s partner also shared a moving tribute to their daughter on social media, writing: “I’ve been the saddest since u left me, Codi Dreaux. But I know u at peace. Daddy will always love you. My baby.”
Snoop Dogg has not yet spoken publicly about the sad news.
Cori had previously been open about the difficulties she faced during her pregnancy, explaining that Codi was born three months early. In an Instagram post last February, she wrote: The princess arrived at 6 months. Baby girl came at 25 weeks today, and she’s perfect as ever.”
She also shared that she needed an emergency C-section after suffering from HELLP syndrome, a dangerous condition during pregnancy.
After being born early, Codi spent 10 months in a special baby unit (NICU) as doctors tried to get her well. Just a few weeks ago, Cori had shared positive news when her daughter was finally allowed to come home from hospital.
Experts say that babies born before 28 weeks are "extremely premature." These babies often face major health problems, such as trouble breathing, difficulty feeding, and staying warm.
Six months after Codi was born, Cori spoke about the emotional strain of having a baby in hospital, describing her daughter as a "fighter" despite her health being so fragile.
She said: “That girl is so feisty. She’s so resilient and strong. She just has so much character… Yeah, the circumstances are not what you thought they would be, but it could be worse.”
Cori herself has faced significant health struggles in recent years. In 2024, she revealed she had suffered a “severe stroke,” an experience she said strengthened her faith.
Speaking to US Weekly, she said: “What really got me close with God is after I had my stroke. I told him, ‘God, if you get me out of here, I’m gonna tell the world about y’all and tell the world you’re real.’ And He did exactly that. And He gets me through.”
Cori was also diagnosed with lupus when she was just six years old. Lupus is a condition where the body’s immune system attacks itself, causing swelling and damage to different organs. There is no cure yet, and having the condition can also make a stroke more likely.
